Dinner Conversation

So the Great Divide erupts, the surface of the table splinters and we lose sight of each other behind a wall of rock and wood and we may never arrive at dessert.

This image was born out of a conversation I had with someone across a large table. Having reached an impasse, I saw in my mind’s eye the figure hauling herself up an inclement mountain … it was a moment of private irony. Images occur to me like little pieces of silent theatre. I paint the players and eventually the pictures tell their stories. Visual artists can be struck dumb when asked to explain their work with words, however I would propose that art is a journey worth taking on your own terms.”
